HONEY BAKED HAM-BURGERS
Summer is upon us and what better way to kick it off than firing up the grill? Next question: what to cook? Is your go-to burgers? Mix it up this weekend by trying these Honey Baked Ham-Burgers. We've always been of the opinion that something called a hamburger should probably have at least a little ham in it. We tried them out and we were right! Everything is, in fact, better with ham.
Ingredients
Honey Baked Ham
1 LB
Ground Pork
1 LB
Garlic Clove, Minced
1
Capers, Chopped (Optional, But Nice)
1 TSP
Egg Yolk
1
Fresh Thyme, Chopped
2 TSP
Onions, Sliced
2
Ice Berg Lettuce, Shredded
1 Head
Gruyere Cheese, Slices

Hamburger Buns

Olive Oil

Preparation
Let's begin by warming the olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add onions. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook onions until golden brown, stirring occasionally.
While onions are caramelizing, add ham to food processor. Pulse until ham is finely ground. If you do not have a food processor. finely chop ham with a knife.
In a large mixing bowl, combine ground pork, egg yolk, garlic, pepper, capers, and ground ham. Using your hands or a spatula, gently combine.
Once combined, separate the mixture into 6 equal sized portions. Gently mold each portion into a patty shape, with a slight indentation in the middle of the patty.
Cook ham-burger patties 3-5 minutes to a side on a hot grill or until desired internal temperature is reached. Finish by melting the gruyere cheese on each patty.
Serve ham-burgers on toasted buns with iceberg lettuce, caramelized onions and your choice of condiments.
