Provolone Cheese Slices
First, preheat your oven to 375 degrees.
Next, wash the asparagus and trim the bottom ends. The bottom ends of asparagus can be woody. The higher up you trim the asparagus, the more tender it will be.
Lay a slice of ham down on a work surface. You may have to trim the ham into a shape appropriate for rolling. Rectangles work well for this.
Top the piece of ham with a slice of provolone cheese.
Lay stalk of asparagus on top of provolone cheese. You will want the asparagus to be placed on the edge of the cheese closest to you. Season everything with salt and pepper.
Beginning at the edge closest to you, where the aspargus is positioned, roll cheese and ham around asparagus. When you have it completely rolled, push a toothpick through the ham, cheese and asparagus. This will keep the ingredients rolled together while they bake. Repeat with remaining stalks of asparagus.
Lay roll-ups 1 inch apart on a baking sheet lined with tin foil.
Drizzle roll-ups with olive oil.
Put tray in oven and bake for 20 minutes, turning the roll-ups over at the halfway point (10 minutes). Asparagus should be lightly browned and cheese should be melted and bubbling when done. Use a spatula to remove roll-ups from baking sheet, making sure not to lose any of that delicious melted cheese.
